Fall Foliage Driving Tour
Follow the highlighted trail through the scenic mountains and valleys. Take time to in breathtaking views and the colorful fall foliage! Plus enjoy some local favorite spots along the way.
Traveling along Route 115: Work up an appetite as you hike the Seven Tubs Nature Area and snap photos of the mountain stream flowing through gorges and canyons in the rock. Refuel and enjoy breakfast and shopping at the Bear Creek Café.
Traveling along 309: Experience “old- school style” dining at the Ranch Wagon where the food comes to you in your car. Leave room for pumpkin ice cream and shopping at the mercantile store at The Lands at Hillside Farms. Take a walk by the lake at Frances Slocum Sate Park where the dazzling fall colors reflect off the water then relax with dinner and drinks on the patio at Fire and Ice on Toby Creek.
Traveling along Route 415: Enjoy a scenic trip around Harvey’s Lake as you snack on potato pancakes and pierogies from Jones’ Potato Pancakes or grab pizza at the legendary Grotto Pizza.
Traveling Routes 29 & 118: As you travel along the colorful tree lined landscape, stop at one of the country restaurants along the way and sample some delicious home cooking. Make a stop at Pisano Family Wines to sip wine in the woods and catch live music on the weekends.
Traveling Routes 487 & 239: One of Luzerne County’s most popular destinations, Ricketts Glen State Park, shows off Mother Nature’s beauty featuring 22 named waterfalls, Lake Jean and 26 miles of trails ranging in difficulty levels. Colonel Ricketts Hard Cider and Setter Fields Vineyard are great stops near this route.
Traveling Routes 11 & 93: Schedule a family kayak trip with Five Mountain Outfitters to take in all the colorful views from the Susquehanna River or be wowed by the reds, yellows and oranges of the mountains surrounding the Susquehanna Warrior Trail that runs from Berwick, through Shickshinny and to West Nanticoke. Route 93 will bring you through the mountains with several restaurants offering views of the Conyngham Valley. Or stop in Downtown Hazleton and grab a bite to eat at The Pines Eatery & Spirits in the historic Markle Building then visit Carmen’s Bakery for a sweet dessert.
Traveling Route 940: Step back in time with a walk through Eckley Miners’ Village, which looks much like it did at the turn of the 20th Century when coal miners and their families made it their home. White Haven is the stopping point for hiking, biking on the D&L Trail. The best view of the fall colors are on the river as you raft the rapids with Pocono Whitewater and Whitewater Challengers.
