Luzerne County has a little bit of something for everyone. So here’s a list to help you make the most of your time in Northeast Pennsylvania.

2.) Fall in love with our falls
Roaring waterfalls dot a number of hiking and biking trails, most notably the 22 named waterfalls at Ricketts Glen State Park.
3.) Taste a slice
Just about every local has a favorite pizza shop and will tell you no two are the same. Whether it’s with sweet sauce, fried dough or piled with peppers, family recipes and years of practice help pack each pie with flavor.
4.) Forest Bathing
Walk one of our many wooded trails and enjoy the benefits of the practice, known as forest bathing or nature therapy. Disconnect from technology and take in the sights, sounds and smells of nature.
5.) Farm to table
Grab farm-fresh food at one of the many farmers’ markets that pop up all across Luzerne County during the summer months.
6.) Kayak the river
Get out on the Susquehanna River, with help from Five Mountain Outfitters Co. or Susquehanna Kayak & Canoe, and discover the beauty along its banks.
7.) Get festive
Luzerne County loves a party! Festivals and fairs are a must to enjoy local food and fun. Whether they celebrate seasons, like the Cherry Blossom and Fall Festivals or celebrate favorite foods, like the Pierogi, Tomato and Kielbasa Festivals, you can be sure to find a good time.
8.) Act out
Concerts, plays and comedians take the stages of our theaters large and small, from the Mohegan Sun Arena to the Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre and the F.M. Kirby Center in between.
9.) Find fall
Fall comes alive in Northeast Pennsylvania! The trees turn brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow while farms and orchards welcome visitors to pick pumpkins and apples.
10.) Coal Story
Walk the streets of Eckley Miners’ Village and go deep underground at the Lackawanna Coal Mine to learn how anthracite coal fueled not only the growth of the area, but also the nation.
