The benefits of taking a walk in nature are far-reaching. From reducing stress, improving memory to fighting fatigue and boosting your immune system, the amount of good being outside can do, both mentally and physically, is seemingly endless. Now tapping into those benefits and exploring some of Luzerne County’s scenic trails and outdoor spaces is easier than ever, thanks to the Luzerne County Transportation Authority.
The LCTA just rolled out its new “Routes to Trails” map. The map highlights bus routes that will take riders to 13 stops near a variety of places to explore and play. The stops include spots like Frances Slocum State Park, Kirby Park, the Back Mountain Trail and the Susquehanna Warrior Trail, to name a few. The map also spotlights activities bus riders can enjoy at each location and opens the door for both locals and visitors to hike a trail, picnic in the woods, rent a canoe or race down a playground slide, ensuring that all those benefits of nature are just a bus ride away.
